Two people who were delivering newspapers early Wednesday in southwest Sioux Falls wound up having a gun pointed at them.

Officer Sam Clemens says the delivery people were pulling into driveways to leave the newspapers, and he says at one house in the 6100 block of West Oscar Howe Circle, a man came out and pointed a gun at them.

Clemens says they took off and called police, and when officers arrived they located the man, who told them he had pulled a .357 revolver on the newspaper deliverers.

He said the neighborhood had seen people racing around as well as other criminal activity, and he wanted to know who they were and what they were doing.

Clemens says 72-year-old Allan Dean Hansen of Sioux Falls was arrested on an aggravated assault charge.

No one was injured.
