A potential Salmonella threat has triggered 242 Hy-Vee stores located across an eight-state region of South Dakota, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesota and Wisconsin to do a voluntary recall of several candy trays.

KDLT TV is reporting the Palmer Candy Company recently announced a limited recall of certain chocolate products after it was informed by its supplier, Valley Milk Products LLC, that a milk powder ingredient used in a compound chocolate coating has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. That move prompted the Hy-Vee Stores to issue the voluntary recall.

Selected products shipped by the Palmer Candy Company to grocery, convenience store and wholesale customers nationwide for repackaging between October 20, (2016) and December 9, (2016) are affected by this voluntary recall.
