The royal family is expanding: Prince Harry and longtime girlfriend, actress Meghan Markle, are officially engaged, Clarence House confirmed this morning (November 27).

The couple, who have been dating for more than a year, will officially live as husband and wife in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Place, the statement says.

“His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle,” the message reads. “The wedding will take place in Spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.”

“His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month,” the announcement continues. “Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his family. Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle’s parents.”

Markle's soon-to-be in-laws, Dutchess Kate and Prince William, immediately offered their support, noting: “We are very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together.”

And the ring Harry gave to his betrothed will honor the royal family's legacy: it features diamonds from a brooch that once belonged to his mother, Princess Diana, according to Us Weekly.
