Residents in Hartford now have new options for getting around town, and also into Sioux Falls. Thanks to AARP South Dakota, Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership, Sioux Valley Energy, Sanford Health, the Hartford Foundation and the City of Hartford, public transportation is now being provided to residents of the city.

According to Cathy McLeer of AARP, it was a volunteer of her organization that first brought up the idea.

Bus service is provided 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Round-trip service to Sioux Falls is also offered on Tuesdays.
The cost of in-town service is $2.00 per ride, and rides to Sioux Falls cost $8.00 round-trip.  For a ride to Sioux Falls, 24 hour advance scheduling does need to be made by calling 605-906-1483.
