Think of raking leaves as exercise, enjoying the great outdoors and helping others.

It's time to search your contacts list and put a group together volunteering for the annual Rake the Town in Sioux Falls Friday and Saturday, October 30 and 31, 2015.

Rake the Town is the annual rake-a-thon coordinated by the Workers on Wheels program at Active Generations. The goal of Rake the Town is to assist senior citizens with their fall yard work who are not financially or physically able to do the work themselves.

Homeowners within the Sioux Falls city limits may register to have their yard raked at the HelpLine Center by dialing 211.

Volunteers may register at Active Generations and click on the Rake the Town banner. This is a great volunteer project for businesses, church and service groups, students, families and individuals. Volunteers may register through October 14.

Workers on Wheels will provide the leaf bags. Volunteers are asked to use their own rakes and when possible, haul the bags to the leaf drop off site. The Sioux Falls Landfill provides free access to the drop off sites for Rake the Town volunteers during the event.

To learn more, please visit www.actgen.org or call Workers on Wheels at 333-3317 or dial 211 for the HelpLine Center.
