Brittany Mathis is a 19 year old girl from Texas.  She works at Kaiserhof Restaurant, a local German eatery.  Kaiserhof Restaurant is owned by Michael De Beyer.

Last month Brittany started getting really bad headaches and blurred vision.  She finally went to the doctor and found out she has a ping-pong sized brain tumor.

She doesn't have healthcare and isn't on Obamacare yet.  With no way of paying for her medical needs she didn't know what was going to happen.

When her boss, Michael, heard this he decided he would sell his restaurant to help her pay for it.

Michael has owned the business for 17 years, and says it's worth about $2 million.  But he's planning to auction it off at a starting price of $1 million.  Then anything beyond that will go to Brittany.

In a weird coincidence, Brittany's father had died of a brain tumor in 2000.  Michael couldn't let the same fate happen to Brittany.  He said quote, "I'm not able to just sit by and let it happen.  I couldn't live with myself."

It's great to hear about people like Michael who go above and beyond what is expected to help someone in need.  I wish Brittany all the best with her medical treatments and hope she has a speedy recovery.
