Meet Our Heroes: Sam Grorud
16-year-old Sam Grorud was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. He was supposed to go through treatment and come out on the other side. Even with his diagnosis, he was so upbeat. After all, his form of cancer is one of the most curable… unfortunately, there are always those exceptions, and Sam was very exceptional. Sam was a positive person, a role model. He had accomplished so much already in his 16 years. His mom wonders aloud if that’s why he was taken so young… he had already done everything he was meant to do. Sam passed away in December after fighting cancer for nine months, leaving a hole in many hearts. His mom says she wants to be like Sam when she grows up. I think that’s something we can all aspire to be.
Listen to Sam’s story accompanied by one of his favorite songs, a song that had a special meaning to Sam – “Good Life” by One Republic.
