I admit that pop music today is not targeting me and my demographic. It's made for people my daughter's age (31) and my granddaughters ages (10-14). But every time I'm around them or walk into a business that is playing it or stumble across one of the acts performing on TV I think to myself that it all sounds the same! Apparently I wasn't the only person that thought that, because there has actually been a study conducted by Spanish researchers and they say the same thing!

According to a new study, pop music has actually gotten less diverse since the early 1950s. Spanish researchers analyzed almost a half a million songs and found that Top 40 hits all “feel” the same because they’re mixed the same way. The songs have also gotten louder. So, it’s not just that you think all pop music sounds the same. It actually does all sound the same.

On a related note, I never had to take the kids to one of 'their' shows while they were growing up (though I do occasionally "take one for the team" escorting my wife to a country concert or Cher, the first time she played Sioux Falls) but I know there are dad's out there taking their screaming daughters to a boy band show like One Direction, so here is a short tribute to them.
