Education Week has released their 17th annual grades and South Dakota Public Schools are ranked 51st in the United States.

Schools and states are graded and ranked in categories such as achievement, standards, chance for success, and teaching profession.

The average U.S. grade is a C, but South Dakota received D's and even F's in some of the categories giving our state a D+ final grade.

Other states in the area (Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska) all fell just below the 76.9 nationwide average and received C grades.
