Is the world ready for Gelena? Selena Gomez, who's been single since her split with Justin Bieber earlier this year, has asked out upcoming British boy-bander George Shelley.

Although separated by thousands of miles, Selena, 21, found a good way to the make the first move on the member of Union J: She sent him a video tape, inviting him to call her when she's in Europe. "Hey, George, it's Selena," she says in the clip. "I was in London for a bit and I'm bummed I missed you, so next time give me call."

George says he was shocked by the tape, which was played for him in front of the whole band. "Selena's one of those massive celebrities who doesn't even know you exist, so I was gob-smacked," he says. "I thought it was a lookalike at first. I could feel my cheeks going red and the lads laughed at me."

The invitation, as surprising as it is, isn't completely out of the blue, though. The group, which formed on the U.K. version of 'The X Factor' in 2012, will open for Gomez when she plays Lisbon, Portugal, next month. The European leg of her Stars Dance world tour starts Friday (Aug. 30) in Denmark.

The 20-year-old George may be baby-faced, but he's handling the unusual situation with maturity. "I will try to call Selena beforehand so it's not too awkward when we meet."

His plans for the date include a bonfire at the beach at night, so Selena, pack for Europe accordingly!
