It's been a rough go for the 'The View' lately.  Barbara Walters announced her retirement and it was confirmed that Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy would not be returning to the daytime talk show.

We heard several rumors about replacements - Ross Matthews, Bethenny Frankel and even Sarah Palin.  Producers are looking for a Latina and a conservative.  Just yesterday, TMZ.com reported that Rosie O'Donnell was in 'active negotiations' to rejoin the show.  Rosie was a co-host from September 2006 to May 2007.  TMZ.com has now confirmed that  Rosie will be coming back to 'The View' for Season 18.

O'Donnell had well documented disagreements with 'View' executive producer Bill Geddie.  It was rumored Geddie had been fired, but that doesn't appear to be true.  I can't imagine Rosie coming back if Geddie is still there.  In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Rosie said that she knew it was time to leave the show when she saw the split screen image of her and Elizabeth Hasselbeck.  The producers knew their confrontations spurred ratings.  I remember that show well.  I thought the same thing! Why the split screen?  Was it necessary?

I DVR'd "The View" every day when Rosie was co-host.  I do believe her views can be too extreme on occasion, but when she leaves the 'crazy' at home and entertains us, she's the 'Queen of Nice' we remember.

Bring on the Broadway dance numbers, Rosie!
