I was reading an article about food museums around the globe. Some of them were really weird, like the Ramen Noodle museum in Yokohama, Japan. It's decor replicates a street circa 1958 with nine different ramen noodle shops where you can get your sodium and carb fix.

There is the German Currywurst Museum which celebrates "the sausage you never knew you needed"! Currywurst is apparently a very popular German fast food consisting of a pork sausage which is boiled first, then fried and ultimately covered in a curry ketchup and served up on a bun.

Both of these seem somewhat outside the mainstream of museums, even ones that celebrate food.

But that wasn't what really surprised me in this article. It was information about the Spam Museum in Austin, Minnesota which gave me pause. The Spam Museum is closed! In fact it has been closed since September 28th, 2014.

I still remember when Ben brought me my own can of Bacon Spam right off of the museum shelf! Thank goodness you can now purchase it almost anywhere.

But take heart fellow Spam-a-holics! The Spam Museum is set to re-open in the Spring of 2016 in a brand new location in downtown Austin, Minnesota and the Spam Store is still open on-line.

Perhaps in the meantime we could explore the Mustard Museum in Wisconsin, the Butter Museum in Cork, Ireland or the Idaho Spud Museum in, where else- - Blackfoot, Idaho.
