Sin City Isn’t the Most Sinful City
“What happens in St. Louis stays in St. Louis.” It just doesn’t have the same ring as “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.” The blog Movoto has made a list of the “10 Most Sinful Cities in America” and Vegas isn’t number one.
The blog used the Seven Deadly Sins, wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy and gluttony. Still sounds like Vegas to me. They translated those sins into criteria that makes sense for modern city living.
Violent crime per year per 1,000 residents = wrath
Percentage of disposable income given to charity each year = greed
Percentage of physically inactive residents = sloth
Cosmetic surgeons per capita = pride
Strip clubs per capita = lust
Theft per year per 1,000 residnets = envy
Percentage of obese residents = gluttony
How did the results stack up? Here’s the full list of Sinful Cities.
1. St. Louis, MO
2. Orlando, FL
3. Minneapolis, MN
4. Pittsburgh, PA
5. Milwaukee, WI
6. Cincinnati, OH
7. Miami, FL
8. Buffalo, NY
9. Detroit, MI
10. Las Vegas, NV
Even though Las Vegas ranked first in strip clubs, one club for every 2,808 residents, they fell short in the rest of the sins. Who needs to go to Vegas when Minneapolis (#3 on the list) is only a short 3 1/2 hours away?
