My buddy here at the radio ranch Paul asked me the other day if I was familiar with a singer/songwriter named Jason Isbell.

I responded like I do to a lot of questions my co-workers ask me.

'Huh?'

Paul knows I love the songwriters and he said this guy, Jason Isbell, was a good one and was coming to Sioux Falls in July at the Orpheum Theater on the 8th of July. He also directed me to a video of Jason singing a Kris Kristofferson penned song.

Well, now he had my attention! As you may know, I'm a huge Kristofferson fan and consider him the best songwriter of my lifetime. As it turns out, Jason is singing the Kris classic 'The Pilgrim' while Kris himself is sitting in the front row! Check it out here.

Impressed with the video, I went to the Orpheum Theater website to learn more and found the following:

Americana Music Awards 2014 Artist of the Year, Jason Isbell, will release his sixth album, Something More Than Free, on July 17. His previous album, Southeastern, received the Americana Music Awards 2014 Album of the Year, while his single, "Cover Me Up", won Song of the Year.

Isbell and his wife Amanda Shires appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman in late April as one of the host's personally selected musical guests in the lead-up to his retirement this month.

Isbell will be joined by his band, The 400 Unit, who are based in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. From 2001 to 2007, Isbell was a member of the Drive-By Truckers. This will be Isbell's second show in Sioux Falls, following last summer's debut performance at the Orpheum.

For more information, including tickets, just go here and let's welcome Jason back to Sioux Falls July 8th.
