Nearly 300 children that attend Youth Enrichment Services are spending Thursday learning “Safety First.” It’s part of the YES Summer Enrichment Day camp.

The children will be divided into groups of twenty and they will move from station to station learning about safety topics.

“When children learn safety they grow up to be safe adults. So teaching the young is important for the future of the community,” said Dave Renli Executive Director of the Sioux Empire Safety Village.

Presenters include the Sioux Falls Police Department, Sioux Falls Health Department, Humane Society, Snowfox Swim Team, Rural Metro Ambulance and the children will tour the Safety Village Power of Fire Exhibit and the Safe House.

Among the safety lesson children will learn are bug and spider safety, traffic and pedestrian safety, swimming safety and fire safety.
