A neighbor dispute on Wednesday (August 19) escalated into a man attempting to strangle a teenager and it was all over a parking spot in an alley.  The 15 year old went to check on his friend’s parked car in the alley and found his neighbor doing strange things to the car as described by Officer Sam Clemens:

He heard some air coming from one of the tires.  He then saw his neighbor stand up and the neighbor had a screwdriver with him and was holding a license plate from the car.  The guy then crumpled up the license plate and threw it at him.  He then threatened the 15 year old with the screwdriver and grabbed him by the throat and started to strangle him, threw him to the ground, jumped on top of him.  A different neighbor heard some of this commotion, came out and was able to separate the two and then we were called in.

The alleged back alley screwdriver strangler is 47-year-old James Wieger, arrested for aggravated assault, tampering with a motor vehicle and intentional damage to property in the 100 block of South Lake.

The teen is expected to be okay.
