Give the lady a hand for putting an unconventional stop to a shoplifting.

About 7:00 PM on Tuesday evening, a group of people entered the Smokin Deals Tobacco Outlet on East 10th Street. Officer Sam Clemens says the clerk made a quick decision for the sake of loss prevention.

“One of them ended up grabbing a DVD and walked out without paying for it. She went outside and confronted them. One suspect pushed her. She pushed him back and then punched him”

Clemens says the 56 year-old attendant ended up with a minor injury in the exchange.

“At some point, she ended up getting a cut on the palm of her hand. It was some kind of puncture wound. The person that took the DVD just gave it back to her and this group of people left.”

Sioux Falls Police say the suspect is a short and heavy-set Native American man in his 30’s. The DVD that was center of attention was of the “adult” variety and police are still looking for the suspect.
