Meteorologist Todd Heitkamp, from the Sioux Falls National Weather Service, Says:

A major winter storm is taking aim at the Tri-State area beginning Thursday afternoon and continuing throughout the day on Friday. The track of the storm has now shifted further north causing the heaviest snowfall to also shift north. Widespread heavy snowfall can be expected with this storm making travel quite difficult, if not impossible. Friday morning commutes will definitely be impacted. The graphic shows the expected snowfall using three different scenarios. The first is the minimal snowfall that will occur (the floor), the second is the most likely scenario, and finally the third is the ceiling or worst case scenario - which is least likely to occur. Besides the snowfall, we're expecting winds gusting to 40 to 45 mph throughout the event causing substantially reduced visibilities. Thundersnow may also occur, especially in areas east of South Dakota Highway 81. Even with the warm ground, snowfall rates should be high enough to quickly overcome those temperatures and begin to accumulate quickly.
