Sioux Falls Police are searching for the driver of a silver sport utility vehicle that was involved in a hit and run accident early Monday morning.

Police report the silver SUV ran into a parked black SUV crashing it into a nearby light pole on 16th Street by Walts Avenue. The accident occurred around 2:30 Monday morning.

Police don't believe anyone was hurt, but they are still searching for the driver who they believed caused the accident. Police say that by the time they arrived on the scene of the accident the driver had fled.

No one was inside the parked car that was hit.

However, the owner of the black SUV, Shelly Lohrenz-Wallman, told local radio station KMXC-FM on the station's Facebook page that they know who was driving the silver SUV.

"They totaled my car, and my neighbors. They had no insurance so we lose. We had liability only. Woke up to this. This is my sons truck. It was parked and the driver of the truck who hit it took off running. Knocked the wheel off. Wanna bet that they don't have insurance?"

Lohrenz-Wallman also said that the individuals in the SUV were involved in an altercation at a local gas station just prior to the incident, which is why they were driving at a high rate of speed. In addition, she said that the passenger was found to be in possession of marijuana. However, none of this information could not be independently verified.
