A Sioux Falls man is accused of raping a nine-year-old family member.

Police spokesman Sam Clemens says a school resource officer had spoken on Monday to a third-grade class at Terry Redlin Elementary School about good-and-bad touches.

On Wednesday night, a 23-year-old man spent the night with his nine-year-old nephew in an apartment building on North Cleveland Avenue, in case school was called off the next day, and that night the man sexually assaulted the boy.

When the boy got to school on Thursday, he told his teacher what had happened.

The SRO was notified, and then worked with detectives on the case.

The uncle was arrested Thursday evening for first-degree rape and sexual contact with a child younger than 16.
