A Sioux Falls man has been arrested for allegedly breaking into unlocked cars.

Police Spokesman Sam Clemens says the suspect is accused of ripping off five cars in southeast Sioux Falls early Monday morning.

"We had an officer driving and noticed a car like somebody had rummaged through the vehicle. We had a couple of extra officers who went to that area. One of them saw a man walking along with a duffel bag. This was around 3:30 A.M. When the officer asked the man to stop, the guy took off running. Eventually, the officer was able to catch him."

Clemens says that's when officers discovered he had broken into several different unlocked cars and one open garage.

"There had been some prescription drugs, cell phones, tablets and a whole host of different items in the bag that were taken from a lot of different cars."

Clemens says 21-year-old Kidane Aron Yosef was arrested on a number of different charges and taken to jail.
