Sioux Falls Man Reports Counterfeit Dollar Bill
Many different bills are reproduced by counterfeiters, some well and some not. But it’s not often you hear about a counterfeit one-dollar bill.
That’s right–a bogus dollar bill. It’s sort of like counterfeiting nickels, when you think about it. It’s a federal offense, and there can’t be much financial incentive to break the law.
Officer Sam Clemens says this one came to light when a man was trying to use the bill in a vending machine on South Marion Road.
Clemens says the man tried the bill in a couple of vending machines, but when he couldn’t get it to work he called police.
He told the officer he didn’t know where he had gotten the bogus buck.
Clemens says the bill was of poor quality.
