Sioux Falls Man Sentenced in Child Porn Case

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A Sioux Falls man accused of downloading more than 30,000 pictures and 3,000 videos depicting child pornography has been sentenced to serve 50 years in prison.

Fifty-two-year-old David Smith pleaded guilty to 15 counts of child porn possession stemming from a raid on his home in early February. Authorities say the children depicted in the pornography were as young as 1 year old.

Minnehaha County State's Attorney Aaron McGowan says it's one of the largest child porn cases he has prosecuted.

Smith will have to serve at least 20 years behind bars before being eligible for parole.
