There were some tense moments outside the East Side Wal-Mart in Sioux Falls Thursday night.

Police Spokesman Sam Clemens says it all started when words were exchanged between a mom (who was in her car with her kids) and the suspect.

"Mom was in the parking lot of the store along with her children). One of them was throwing a fit. We had a man that walked up. He was parked next to them. He looked inside and started looking at the mom. She made a comment to him and things went from there."

And that's when the stranger pointed a gun at the mom and her children.

"He got in his car and ended up pulling out a gun and pointing it at them. The woman's fiance returned with another child. The suspect then pointed the gun at them. The two guys were going back and forth. Eventually, the suspect left. They were able to get a license plate number of the car."

Clemens says 60-year-old Fletcher Toulos of Sioux Falls was arrested and charged with five counts of aggravated assault.
