The City of Sioux Falls is in the process of creating a Parks and Recreation Master Plan and wants to hear from all residents, business owners, special interest groups, and any other interested parties.

A public meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Carnegie Town Hall, 235 West Tenth Street. Everyone is welcome.

This Parks and Recreation Master Plan will look at the existing recreational facilities, programs, and services; conduct a comprehensive community input process; and determine the current and future level of service for the community.

The plan also will prioritize the needs and desires for upgrading existing—and potentially creating new—facilities and services. This Parks and Recreation Master Plan will help to determine the phasing, timing, funding, and other details for these projects and services for the next several years.

One of the important factors of the plan is to determine the priorities of recreational facilities and activities, funding sources available, potential partnerships, and support to implement the needs of the community.

To help in its quest, the City of Sioux Falls has hired a nationally known parks and recreation management consulting firm, GreenPlay, LLC, whose home office is in Louisville, Colorado, to oversee the Parks and Recreation Master Plan process.

Any questions regarding the Parks and Recreation Master Plan or the public meeting can be directed to Kelby Mieras at 605-367-8150.
