Sioux Falls Police Information Officer Sam Clemens says three juveniles are in hot water following the theft of a vehicle.

"We believe the stolen car was taken Monday evening. As that information was broadcast to officers this Tuesday morning, one of the officers happened to see the car pass by him," explained Clemens. "The vehicle stopped on its own at Garfield Elementary School and dropped off a 10-year-old boy. That's when officers were able to arrest the three teens that were inside the car. We had a 13-year-old boy and two 14-year-old girls. All three of them were charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.  One of the 14-year-old girls was driving. The 13-year-old boy had stolen the car."

Clemens says the keys were left in the vehicle.

"Probably the best thing to do is make sure the car is locked and there are no keys or spare keys left inside. That's the number one reason cars get ripped off - leaving keys inside."

Unfortunately, that is tempting to someone wanting to steal a vehicle.
