When Sioux Falls Police responded to an open burn call in the 2900 Block of North Wayland Avenue Thursday morning, they ended up making a drug arrest.

"Officers made contact with a female and told her why they were there regarding the open burn," Police Lt. Loren McManus explained. "As they were attempting to identify her for warrants---she was reaching into her purse to get the i.d.---officers saw an exposed syringe sticking out of a black bag that was inside of the purse. According to reports, the woman was trying to hide the item."

McManus, who says the syringe tested positive for meth residue, says 43-year-0ld Patricia Kant was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphemalia.
