During Monday's Police Briefing at the Law Enforcement Center, Sioux Falls Police Information Officer Sam Clemens said a weekend saturation patrol resulted in many arrests.

"One of the things we look for are impaired drivers and making sure the people are following the traffic laws and also seat

belt compliance. We had 12 officers that were working Saturday night into Sunday morning. We had ten DWI arrests that were made and a total of 132 tickets were issued."

Clemens says he is surprised with the large number of DWI arrests.

"There's been a lot of education and we constantly try to get the word out to people that they need to find another way. Don't drink and drive! It's not safe and it's not worth it anymore. We've seen numbers higher and numbers lower. We like to keep it on that low end and hopefully end the saturation patrols. But the more DWI arrests we make, the more we will continue doing it."

Clemens says another saturation patrol will take place on St. Patrick's Day.
