In the early morning hours of Sunday, one of the sculptures that grace the sidewalks of downtown was stolen, only to turn up hours later at Menlo Park. Another was torn from it's bolts securing it to a pedestal. This one, was caught on video.

The statue is at the corner of 11th & Phillips.

It's hard for most of us to understand why senseless vandalism happens. There was nothing to gain by the act. We are given beautiful pieces to display in the downtown area for us and our city's visitors to enjoy and this happens. It's a shame.

I truly hope this video leads to the arrest of the vandal.

Sioux Falls police released this surveillance video Monday afternoon. If you have any information on the theft and vandalism, call the Sioux Falls police department.
