Sioux Falls Police Information Officer Sam Clemens says drivers managed to avoid a large number of accidents Wednesday morning due to slick road conditions.

"Actually, it was pretty good during morning drive time. From 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM we only had 15 crashes. That's a little bit higher than normal, but really good considering the road conditions."

Clemens credits Sioux Falls drivers for keeping a distance from the vehicles in front of them.

"This time of year people are used to driving with the snow covered roads and knowing they have to slow down and give themselves extra distance. That's probably the most important thing. Keeping that longer distance than you would normally have.  It's really going to prevent a of crashes as we saw today in Sioux Falls."
