Sioux Falls Police Lt. Greg VandeKamp says officers were dispatched to a fight disturbance near 16th and Summit Avenue after 12 midnight.

"As we understand it, two individuals went to the location where the victim was initially found. There was a dispute over some money that was owed. The dispute broke out into a fight between two of the individuals. As a result of that fight, the victim was actually knocked out and was laying in the street."

That's when he was run over!

"Before others that were present could remove him from the street---as the suspect vehicle was leaving---it actually ran over the victim. No other persons were injured at the scene."

The driver of the vehicle, 31-year-0ld Christopher Benson, was charged with simple assault and felony injury hit and run.

The victim suffered life-threatening injuries.
