Police are alerting Sioux Falls residents about a scam that is turning up.

No one has been victimized yet, but Information Officer Sam Clemens says it's a variation of a fraud that has been around before.

"This person is claiming to have some affiliation with the state attorney's office and is threatening that the people need to pay their warrants or give him money or send him money," explained Clemens.

Clemens says no one has lost any money yet, but he says it's important to be aware that the scammers are using this method. He says it's nothing new, but rather is a different version from what police have seen before.

Clemens also says if you are concerned that there might be a warrant for you, you can contact the Sheriff's office for verification.
