The latest pickup for the Sioux Falls Skyforce has quite a bit of NBA seasoning. Seven-footer Johan Petro has eight seasons among four different organizations in the Association.

According to a press release from the Skyforce, Petro is from France and appeared in 473 NBA regular season games (139 starts) starting in 2005. Petro was originally a first-round choice of the Seattle SuperSonics then transitioned to Oklahoma City. Petro has also spent time with the Denver Nuggets, New Jersey Nets, and the Atlanta Hawks.

For his career Petro’s numbers are 4.7 points and 3.9 rebounds in 15 minutes per game with his best year coming in ’07-08 with Seattle. Petro also has NBA post season experience in two seasons with Denver (’09-10, ’10-11) and one with Atlanta in 2013.

Following his time with the Hawks, Petro has played professionally in China, France and Puerto Rico. In addition, Petro played for the French national team that won the 2013 FIBA EuroBasket title.

As a result of the move, Vashil Fernandez was waived in the process. Fernandez, a rookie out of Valparaiso, appeared in 26 games averaging 1.2 points, 2 rebounds in 8 minutes per contest.
