A Sioux Falls teen discovered when it’s time to face the music you can run and hide, but eventually you will be caught.

Just before 11:00 AM Tuesday a 16-year-old escaped from Volunteers of America Dakotas on North West Avenue prior to being taken to a court hearing. Officer Sam Clemens says the boy started rummaging through unlocked cars after escaping.

“He took off running to the north and there are quite a few businesses in that area. We have different witnesses that saw him going through different cars. They ended up catching him under a car in a parking lot [at Casa del Rey]."

The boy was found with some cash and a wallet taken from some vehicles during his mini-spree. New charges posted against him include Escape, Petty Theft, Criminal Entry of a Motor Vehicle and Fleeing Police.

Police did not reveal what prior charges the boy faced before he escaped.
