A Sioux Falls teenager was trying to buy drugs at the Empire Mall, but didn't get his drugs.

According to the Argus Leader the 18-year-old victim called police at about 4:30 p.m. on Labor Day to report a robbery. The teen reportedly told officers he was robbed at gunpoint by a couple of men who had given him a ride to the mall, police became suspicious when the teen’s story didn’t add up.

After more questioning it was revealed that the teenager had given a man at least $1,000 in exchange for marijuana but the man left without giving the teenager any drugs.

The teenager was able to give the name of the dealer who has not yet been found.

Minnehaha County State’s Attorney’s office will decide if the teenager will face any charges.
