Soon Ace will be the place for all your hardware needs in downtown Sioux Falls.

SiouxFalls.Business is reporting that Nyberg's Ace Hardware has plans to open a downtown location later this year.

Nyberg's Ace currently has four other locations scattered throughout the city of Sioux Falls. This new location will be their smallest store, but that doesn't mean the store will be short on merchandise.

Owner Kevin Nyberg told SiouxFalls.Business the new downtown location will be “up to the ceiling” and contain “a unique selection of items catering to downtown."

If you've lived in the Sioux Falls area for awhile, you will definitely be familiar with the location of the new downtown store. Nyberg plans to open the Sioux Empire's fifth Ace Hardware in the old Sid's Crown Liquor location at 330 South First Avenue. His plan is to also take possession of the original Texaco Super Service Station building next door at 330 South First Avenue as well. Both buildings combined will give patrons of the new Ace location roughly 5,700 square feet of shopping space.

Nyberg plans to incorporate the longstanding history of both buildings within the new store. He told SiouxFalls.Business that he has some fun things planned that will showcase both iconic Sioux Falls businesses within the new Ace location.

The exterior of the buildings will stay the same because both buildings are on the National Historic Register. The only thing that should change in that regard will be the signage on the outside of the buildings.

Ace Hardware shoppers won't have long to wait to check out the new location. Crews have started demolition, already, if all goes well, Nyberg hopes to have the new Ace open by late June.

Nyberg's Ace is also planning to open a sixth location at 85th and Louise in the future.
