Sioux Falls to Get More Affordable Housing in 2017

People with low incomes in Sioux Falls will be getting a break in the form of more affordable housing soon.

Sioux Falls announced on Monday, June 6, 2016, that the city will be providing an $841,000 loan to help build a new 2 story building that will be available in the spring of 2017 for those with low incomes.

The building to be named ‘Pettigrew Manor’, will be located at the intersection of East 10^th Street and South Summit Ave.

The total cost of the Pettigrew Manor project will run around 1.2 million. Rent will range anywhere from $400 to $600 per month, depending on the tenants income, that price will include utility costs.

According to Daren Ketcham, Director of Community Development for the City of Sioux Falls, "Affordable housing is a high priority for Sioux Falls, and this project is a great investment in the continued neighborhood revitalization of the Pettigrew neighborhood."

This announcement comes on the heels of the 'Chasing Willows II' project in southeast Sioux Falls. The project is a partnership with Costello Companies, that will offer 40 affordable housing units to low-income residents and will also be available in 2017.
