Police say a Sioux Falls transient was intoxicated when he went into a fast-food restaurant on East 10th Street Saturday afternoon and asked for food and then money.

Officer Sam Clemens says it was around 4:30 p.m. Saturday when 45-year-old James Lewis Jenkins Junior walked into the McDonald's restaurant at 10th and Fairfax.

"[The suspect] was asking if he could have some food, asking the employee if she had any money," said Clemens. "[The employee] basically said 'no' and he needed to leave because he was pretty intoxicated. He asked for a cup of coffee, so she gave him a cup of coffee and he took it and threw it at her."

Officer Sam Clemens Explains More:

Clemens says Jenkins was arrested for disorderly conduct, failure to vacate and obstruction. He says the suspect's blood alcohol content was a .290.

The 41-year-old employee was not injured.
