Police are holding a Sioux Falls man after, they say, he held a his girlfriend against her will for more than a month-and-a-half.

Information Officer Sam Clemens says police were called Friday afternoon after the woman's employer voiced concern about her well-being.

Clemens says officers went to the couple's home in the 100 block of North Covell Avenue, got other people out and then arrested 35-year-old Daniel Armstrong Senior on some outstanding warrants. He says the woman's story came out when she was taken to a hospital:

Clemens says the 25-year-old woman told police that Armstrong had assaulted and threatened her almost daily. She also said he had sexually assaulted her earlier on Friday.

Armstrong was charged with two counts of domestic aggravated assault, second-degree rape, kidnapping and false imprisonment.
