Sioux Falls Woman Victimized by Rental Scam

A Sioux Falls woman is the victim of a rental scam that involved an online ad.

Police Information Officer Sam Clemens says the woman saw an ad on Craigslist about an available residence in the 1700 block of East Ponderosa Drive. She wired $1,500 to a person who said the keys would be sent.

The keys didn’t arrive and the woman e-mailed the purported landlord again, but when the landlord said she would need to send more money, she realized it was a scam.

Clemens says the police report doesn’t say if the rental unit really was available.
