A large lead turned tenuous late, but the Sioux Falls Skyforce held on to beat Fort Wayne 106-101 on Sunday. It was the second of five games in nine days for the ‘Force.

This battle between division rivals played close for a majority of the contest. Each team was able to build a nine-point lead before the other was able to bring the game back to all-square.

The crucial stretch proved to be the start of the fourth quarter as the Skyforce (11-3) scored the first 11 points of the period to build a 92-77 advantage. With 6:35 left and a lead of 17 points, the Mad Ants (9-7) mounted their comeback. With just under two minutes remaining, the Sioux Falls lead was whittled down to four.

From there neither team could find the range until DeAndre Liggins was fouled with 24.2 seconds left. A 6-8 team performance from the line was enough to seal the fourth straight win for the visitors.

Speaking of Liggins, he notches his second triple-double of the season (14 points, 12 assists, 11 rebounds). In both instances Liggins accomplished the feat against Fort Wayne. Take a look at either or both performances below.

All eight players for Sioux Falls that appeared in the contest scored at least eight points. At the top was Keith Benson with 19 points and Jarnell Stokes returns on assignment from Miami with 18 points plus 10 rebounds.

Fort Wayne’s top performers included 29 points from Joe Young on assignment from the Indiana Pacers. Supplying spark off the bench, Walter Lemon, Jr. poured in 21.

Sioux Falls will be at Canton on Tuesday. Meanwhile Fort Wayne will head to Erie for a Wednesday encounter.
