Major construction is set to begin in Sioux Falls with traffic jams to follow. The season after winter is here. We start with a preview of the project before it begins so you can get an idea of what is coming.

Specifically for Solberg Avenue, the entire stretch from Forty-ninth Street to Fifty-Seventh Street will be reconstructed. Old pavement will be removed plus upgrades to storm sewer, water main, sidewalk and street lights. There will eventually be a traffic signal at Forty-ninth and Solberg as well.

All traffic will be stopped from Forty-ninth Street to Chippewa Circle, however there will be vehicles allowed from the Fifty-seventh Street side up to Chippewa Circle. Louise Avenue will be a designated detour for this route.

The project is expected to be fully complete by November 2015. A video tour before the street closure is available in the video below.

An additional note, the expansion of the storm water detention pond at Forty-ninth and Solberg is already underway. There also is a major structure being built near the Good Samaritan complex.
