Officials at the Writers Guild of America have compiled a list of the best written shows in American TV history and I think I must have been sitting in the room with them because their list closely mirrors my personal choices.

The HBO gangster drama "The Sopranos" came out on top of every other show ever. The series followed James Gandolfini's 'family' in New Jersey from 1999-2007.

The iconic comedy 'Seinfeld' came in second, followed by the original airing of "The Twilight Zone", "All in the Family" and "M*A*S*H*"

There are several current series that made the list as well including "Mad Men", "Breaking Bad", "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and "Game of Thrones"
