On Wednesday, the best South Dakota high school athletes got to play with and against each other in Aberdeen for the South Dakota high school All-Star games in football and volleyball.

On the gridiron, the Red team beat the Blue team, 24-18. Brandon Valley's Chase Marso paced the Red team with 55 yards passing, a touchdown, a career-best 46-yard field goal, and three extra points.

The Blue team scored 12 fourth-quarter points, but the difference was their inability to convert on any of their extra points.

Andrew McCuen of Harrisburg put the Blue team away late in the game when he found Erik Hiltunen of Custer for a first down on 3rd-and-12. McCuen passed for 129 yard and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, on the volleyball court, the South knocked off the North in three sets, 25-19, 25-12, and 25-15.

Northern State recruit Lexi Bordeaux of Washington High School served 11 straight points in the second set, along with a total of nine digs and two aces to pace the South.
