What happens when you hold a job recruiting seminar for women and no one shows up? You keep searching.

That's exactly what the South Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing to do.

The highway patrol is looking for women to add to its force and having a difficult time finding some.

They've been holding seminars throughout the state where female troopers share their experiences and inform people on what it takes to serve on the highway patrol.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol hosted another seminar on Tuesday in Aberdeen, and not a single woman showed. But that's not stopping them from spreading the word.

Trooper Cortney Paul says her job with the South Dakota Highway Patrol can be demanding, but she's happy with her job.

According to Paul, "I didn't think I could do this job at first, but I applied, went through the process, trained really hard physically, mentally, did a lot of educational research, and spoke to several members of the highway patrol." She says it has been a positive experience for her. "They support me in everything that I've done and gone through so far and I honestly couldn't ask for a better group of people to work with."

Paul is one of a few women the South Dakota Highway Patrol employs. At the present time she's taking part in a series of recruiting seminars to reach out to other women with the goal of getting more ladies to join the force.

The number of men on the force right now is in the hundreds. The number of women is fewer than ten.

The search continues, as representatives of the South Dakota Highway Patrol will be in Sioux Falls on Monday, July 27, they'll also make a stop in Pierre in August.
