South Dakota Hunting Dates For 2014 Released
Most people talk about the changing of the seasons. “It’s almost spring”. ‘Summer’s coming!”, “I love fall colors”. “Winter again?!?!”
But in South Dakota, you can add the all important fifth season: Hunting season!
Growing up in Minnesota, the state fishing opener was like a state holiday. Here in South Dakota, pheasant and deer openers rival that of our neighbors to the east.
But that’s certainly not the only critter we like to hunt in this state. Here’s the list of hunting seasons just released by the South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks Department for 2014:
Pheasant: October 18-January 4
Youth Pheasant: October 4-8
Resident Only Pheasant: October 11-13
Grouse/Partridge: September 20-January 4
Mourning Dove: September 1-November 9
Fall Turkey: October 1-January 31
Archery Antelope: August 16-October 3 and October 20-31
Firearms Antelope: October 4-19
Black Hills Archery Elk: September 1-30
Black Hills Firearms Elk: October 1-31 and December 1-15
Youth Deer: September 13-January 15
Black Hills Deer: November 1-30
West River Deer: November 15-30
East River Deer: November 22-December 7
Muzzleloader Deer: December 1-January 15
