A South Dakota man will be dropping a dime in prison for hitting his aunt in the face multiple times with a flashlight last spring.

35-year-old Aaron Goodface III of Lower Brule was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Roberto Lange last week for his conviction on assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

The punishment stems back to an April 25 incident where police officers were called to Goodface's home.

Upon their arrival, police found Goodface hiding in the bathroom. They ask him to open the door, at first he refused, once he did, he then refused to get on his knees. That prompted officers to draw a taser gun on him, which forced him to finally comply.

At the time of his apprehension, officers found Goodface's aunt with large gashes on her forehead and near her right ear that required sutures, two fractured ribs and bleeding on the brain that required monitoring. She spent several days in the hospital.

Goodface will end up serving 119 months in prison followed by three years of supervised probation as a result of his actions.
