In addition to helping defend our great nation the South Dakota National Guard also helps care for and feed our many communities.

For the third year in-a-row, volunteer members of the South Dakota National Guard are deploying a statewide food drive. The drive is in effect from now until June, 10, 2016.

Donations will help benefit people in need who live in the communities where Guard members serve.

Guard members will gather all the food donated and distribute it to social service organizations and food banks throughout the state of South Dakota.

Last year they collected more than 3,200 pounds of donated food. This year they are aiming for at least 4,000 pounds, but they can't get there without your help.

Anyone wishing to make a donation of a non-perishable food item can do so by dropping it off at any Army National Guard armory in the state or at the Air National Guard base in Sioux Falls.
