South Dakota October Hole-In-One

Up until Sunday Oct. 16th I had seen 3 hole-in-ones, one of which I dropped in at Willow Run Golf Course just east of Sioux Falls. Now I've seen 4.

I was golfing at Spring Creek Country Club just south of Sioux Falls with my father in law Leonard Scholten, nephew Tom Scholten, and brother in law Rod Scholten.

It was a windy Sunday morning. There were a lot of foursomes already on the front 9 so we got the go ahead to tee off on the back nine.

On our second hole of the day Rod led the group in teeing off on #11 at Spring Creek. There was a strong wind playing from left to right on the 170 yard par 3.

Rod hit a lofty iron shot which hit a hill on the right side of the green, bounced left, rolled across the green and right in the cup. And the crowd went wild...well the 4 of us went wild.

If you are a golfer in South Dakota you know what a special time of the year fall is for the sport. It's even more special when you get to witness a hole in one.
