Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were named winners in their respective parties in the South Dakota Primary on June 7, 2016.  Although Trump's announcement came shortly after polls closed at 7:00 PM, the final count between Democratic Candidates Sanders and Clinton was too close to call till 11:00 PM.  According the the official record keeper, the South Dakota Secretary of State Office of Shantel Krebs, the final count was:

  • 25,957 Votes in South Dakota for Bernie Sanders
  • 27,046 Votes in South Dakota for Hillary Clinton

In the Republican Primary across South Dakota:

  • John R Kasich 10,659 votes
  • Ted Cruz  11,350
  • Donald Trump 44,862
